Enyaq EV : Skoda’s Flagship Electric SUV

The Skoda Enyaq EV is built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles.

This platform also underpins other EVs like the Audi Q4 e-tron and Volkswagen ID.4.

The Enyaq EV is expected to be launched in India in 2025, initially through the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route.

Powertrain and Performance

In India, Skoda is likely to offer the Enyaq 80 variant, featuring a single electric motor producing 282 bhp of power and 310 Nm of torque. This configuration allows the EV to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds.

The Enyaq EV is equipped with an 82 kWh battery pack, providing a range of over 500 km on a single charge.

Fast charging capabilities enable the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes using fast chargers.

Features and Technology

The Skoda Enyaq EV will come with several advanced features, including Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, digital screens for the instrument console and infotainment system, and leatherette upholstery in the cabin.

These features aim to provide a premium and technologically advanced driving experience.

Measuring 4.1 meters in length, the Epiq EV will be based on an entry-level version of the MEB platform developed for front-wheel-drive EVs.

Skoda might introduce a low-cost version of the Epiq EV in India sometime in 2026, which will compete with EVs like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV.

Investment and Manufacturing Plans

Skoda Auto has announced an investment plan of ₹ 15,000 crore for its Chakan facility in Pune, Maharashtra. This facility will be upgraded to manufacture electric and hybrid vehicles for the Indian market, along with regular ICE models.

The company aims to increase the production capacity in Pune to 250,000 units a year to meet the demand for current cars, exports, and new EVs.

 Competition and Market Positioning

The Skoda Enyaq EV will compete with EVs like the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, and Volvo XC40 Recharge in the Indian market.

By targeting the premium end of the EV segment, Skoda aims to offer a combination of luxury, performance, and advanced technology. The Enyaq is expected to be priced between Rs. 50.00 Lakh – Rs. 55.00 Lakh.
